The boys decorating our Turkey Potpies
Alexander was particularly proud of his, especially since he is now old enough to do most of this on his own.
And this is Robert and Alexander's amazing creation. They can really come up with some neat train track/fort plans.
In my most recent memories this is the longest time Robert and I have had alone with our boys with no commitments (no work, no student obligations, no traveling, no visitors...) and we have been soaking this time up, knowing from experience that it is a rare time in our lives. As many of you know Robert has begun a 6 month sabbatical from InterVarsity to focus on spiritual renewal, developing healthy patterns of parenting, and seeking God's guidance for the future. Well, his sabbatical has also been a time for me to realign what my priorities are. I find myself stopping from cleaning the bathroom to sit on the floor and play with trains with Alexander, taking those few extra moments to enjoy Elijah saying "mama, mama, mama," and spending some wonderful time with my amazing husband (instead of trying to complete one more thing). Anyway, this has also given me a renewed since of creativity with the boys, as seen above. Lord, I am thankful that you call us to rest so that we can enjoy what you have given us. Once again I am enjoying the simple moments in life.
